I recognize that eating behaviors and attitudes towards bodies don't occur in a vacuum. I am committed to practicing through an anti-racist, size inclusive, gender inclusive lens. I also believe that body diversity should be celebrated, and that weight stigma is harmful to health. I strive to provide care through an intersectional lens, acknowledging the way one's social location is connected to one's relationship with food and body. I also greatly value body autonomy, and understand that many of us hold complicated relationships to weight, shape and size given the society in which we all live. I am here to hold space and listen without judgment to your experiences of and in your body.
While my work with each client is highly individualized and looks different for each person some of the theories that inform my approach include: Intuitive Eating Mindful Eating, Health at Every Size® (HAES®), The Non-Diet Approach and The Division of Responsibility in Feeding. Each of these frameworks also have their own limitations. I work creatively and flexibly with each client, keeping in mind individual circumstances and access to resources.
