Approximately 10 million American women experience an eating disorder which often peaks during childbearing years. Eating disorders during pregnancy are more common than expected. One out of every 21 pregnant women met the criteria for an eating disorder- anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, or an atypical eating disorder.
