About

People who enter my office are often perfectionists struggling to let go of control in some capacity, or are people struggling to feel in control of their emotions and subsequent behaviors. Our work together will lead to self-compassion and a greater sense of authenticity. It is important that the people I work with also feel a sense of mastery around their ability to cope with their emotions without using food and compulsory behaviors.

Additionally, your care does not end once you have completed our residential treatment. In the interest of helping you maximize your ability to recover successfully, we provide a full range of aftercare services including partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programming options. We begin discharge planning starting on your first day of admission to ensure that you are fully supported during your transition out of residential care, and to help you step down from residential treatment to partial hospitalization, to intensive outpatient care.

About

I specialize in eating disorder treatment, trauma, anxiety, and athlete mental health. I use a variety of treatment modalities to create an individualized therapeutic relationship and experience for each of my clients to reach their goals and have an open, accepting space to process their life stories. We all have fears, doubts, and insecurities that can keep us from engaging in the life we envision for ourselves. My goal in working with you is to help you conquer those obstacles so you can bloom into the life that has been otherwise out of reach!

We are each capable of incredible things– as long as we are given the tools, the time, and the opportunities to show them. Those incredible things come out of our heritage, our ideals, our personal identities and experiences. If we only had one kind of person in the world, there wouldn't be much to admire. While we explore how to show what we value and our authentic selves, it's important to find a space that's judgement free, and safe to be curious and make a mess, sometimes laugh at ourselves, and definitely cry for ourselves. My goal is to provide such a space that starts as a room or a virtual call–and becomes a bubble of safe exploration.

About

Our organization serves two groups of people – individuals looking to develop a healthier relationship to food and their bodies and clinicians seeking training on how to counsel individuals in recovery from eating disorders and disordered eating. However, a single working philosophy informs the work we do in both fields. Our job is to help individuals tap into their own inner wisdom and strength which is naturally inside each and every one of us. We think of ourselves as guides, companions, and partners along the road to learning, growing, and healing. It is possible to develop a peaceful relationship to food and bodies despite the lack of this modeled in our Western society. We embrace a counter-cultural message which promotes body diversity, fat positivity, and non-diet principles. We disavow weight-centric messaging and the notion that bodies are meant to be controlled or managed. The integration of both nutrition and psychology is key to fueling lasting transformation. As educators and practitioners, our work with individual clients informs and enhances our clinician training programs, and vice versa. The work we do is strongly rooted in the development of trusting relationships built on mutual respect, compassion, and empathy. We believe that when working with individuals our best work is done when we listen more than we speak. We remain committed to continued growth and learning and invest our time and financial resources to stay abreast in the most current research and best practices. Health At Every Size and Intuitive Eating Principles infuse our counseling, speaking, and teaching. Anita Dharwadkar, RDN, LDN Anita is a Registered Dietitian with the Marci RD Nutrition team in Cambridge, MA. Anita works with people of all genders, ages, and backgrounds and specializes in working with adolescents and young adults who suffer from chronic illness alongside their Eating Disorders, Disordered Eating and Body Image concerns. She believes a weight-inclusive approach is key to facilitating healing and recovery and utilizes Health At Every Size® and Intuitive Eating principles to guide her work with clients.
